What is Hojicha?

Hojicha (ほうじ茶) is a type of Japanese Green Tea that was first made in Kyoto during the 1920s

It involves roasting steamed green tea over charcoal, altering the color and bringing out a distinct flavor unique only to Hojicha.

The said roasting process removes much of the caffeine in the tea, making it a perfect accompaniment to dinner or as an evening drink, and even as a low-caffeine coffee substitute.
