Some days start better with a quiet moment: a bowl, a scoop of matcha, the sound of the whisk. That’s the feeling behind our Reel featuring Kitsune Matcha, our house ceremonial grade matcha, a gentle reminder to pause and ask yourself:
“Have you had your daily matcha?”
In this post, we’re putting the spotlight on Kitsune Matcha, sharing what makes it special, how it tastes, and how you can turn it into a simple daily ritual at home.
Meet Kitsune Matcha – Our Ceremonial Grade Classic
Kitsune Matcha is our signature ceremonial grade matcha, crafted for moments when you want to drink matcha on its own – smooth, vibrant, and uncluttered.
Designed for traditional preparation, Kitsune Matcha is ideal if you:
- Enjoy drinking pure matcha without milk
- Appreciate a smooth, low-bitterness profile
- Want a matcha that feels refined enough for special moments, but approachable enough for everyday bowls
In the Reel, you’ll see just how simple it can be: one scoop, hot water, a few soft wrist movements with the chasen, and a bright green froth that invites you to take that first sip.
Why Uji? The Origin Behind Our Matcha
Kitsune Matcha is made from Uji matcha powder, sourced from the historic tea-growing region of Uji in Japan – a name that carries a long tradition of quality.
Uji is known for:
- Longstanding matcha cultivation heritage
- Careful shading and picking methods
- A reputation for producing matcha with a balanced, elegant flavour
When we chose a base for Kitsune, we wanted Uji ceremonial matcha that reflects what we love most about Japanese tea: depth, clarity, and a gentle, lingering finish.

Flavour Notes – Soft, Velvety, Gently Uplifting
In the bowl, Kitsune Matcha has:
- A rich, vibrant green colour
- A soft, grassy aroma with a hint of sweetness
- A velvety texture when whisked properly
On the palate, you can expect:
- Gentle umami without harsh bitterness
- Subtle natural sweetness
- A clean finish that makes it easy to drink on its own
How to Prepare Kitsune Ceremonial Grade Matcha
You don’t need an elaborate tea room to enjoy Uji ceremonial matcha. A few basic tools and a calm minute or two are enough.
You’ll need:
- Kitsune ceremonial grade matcha
- Matcha bowl or wide mug
- Matcha whisk (chasen)
- Small sieve (optional but recommended)
- Hot water (around 70–80°C)
Step-by-step:
-
Sift the matcha
Add about 1–2 grams (roughly 1–1.5 teaspoons) of Uji matcha powder into your bowl through a small sieve to remove clumps. -
Add water
Pour in a small amount of hot water (about 60–70 ml). The water should be hot, but not boiling. -
Whisk
Using your chasen, whisk quickly in a “W” or “M” motion until frothy and smooth. -
Top up (optional)
If you prefer a milder bowl, add a bit more hot water after whisking. -
Sip and pause
Hold the bowl with both hands, take a breath, and enjoy your matcha slowly.
